explanations on the end of the Netflix series based on League of Legends

Season 2 ofArcane has finished its broadcast on Netflix, the opportunity to take stock of the revelations of the last act and the consequences of the war on Zaun, Piltover and their inhabitants. WARNING: SPOILERS EVERYWHERE !

After three years of waiting, the series Arcane concluded on Netflix. Even if we found season 2 to fall short of the first, the collaboration between the French studio Fortiche and the American publisher Riot was a landmark in the history of animation, both for its record budget ($250 million). for both seasons) as well as its unrivaled production model and overall quality.

Three other series have already been announced. After Piltover and its outskirts, we will visit new regions: Noxus, Ionia and Demacia. But before expanding the map and meeting new champions, we still need to take stock of the situation after the last act. Is Jinx dead? Where have Viktor and Jayce gone? Who was this mysterious raven in the last episode? Are we going to see the Black Rose again? We take stock.

Vi for Violet (and Victoire and Vivante)

Is Jinx really dead at the end of Arcane?

Officially, yes, Jinx/Powder and Vander both died in the last episode. Unofficially, we have every right to remain in denial. The finale fuels the idea that Jinx might have survived the fall and explosion, mainly because Caitlyn herself seems to be investigating the possibility.

We see her in the last sequence looking at the plans of the Hexgate while holding part of a Jinx bomb, probably the one she detonated in her fall. She then zooms in on air ducts, suggesting that Jinx could have escaped that way. Caitlyn's pensive look also suggests that she is hesitant to tell Vi, who can finally grieve after years of suffering.

The final shot of the airship flying away from Piltover is also open to interpretation. It could be purely symbolic, since she dreamed of boarding one of them. This is actually the first sentence she says in the series. Unless it is a more down-to-earth clue (no pun intended) about his possible escape.

She rolled onto her side and landed in a protected conduit, HUH?

What happened to Jayce and Viktor at the end of Arcane?

In the third act of season 2 ofArcane, a moral and philosophical conflict opposes the two partners : Viktor, alienated by the Arcana, wants peace and the total evolution of humanity in return for his free will, while Jayce pleads for an imperfect, but free, humanity. After their confrontation in the Hexgate, both find themselves immersed in what appears to be the Arcana.

Jayce then explains to Viktor what he saw in the Wild Rune he got stuck in and reveals to him that the mage who saved him as a child and gave him the rune at the center of his work was not other than a future version of Viktor.

Jayce sacrificing himself to stay with Viktor

After fulfilling his quest for perfection and destroying the world, Viktor sought to right his past mistakes. Across all realities, he has each time given a different rune to Jayce hoping that he can stop him by showing Viktor the beauty of imperfection. It is therefore in the reality where the Hextech was never created that the solution was found, since it was from the fragments of Hextech found there that Ekko and Heimerdinger created the time-winding machine. time that allowed Jayce to arrest and reason with Viktor.

The two scientists therefore joined forces one last time to destroy the rune and thus free all the inhabitants under control. The two then disappeared without further explanation. However, it is difficult to say that they are indeed dead. given that they transcended their human condition by diving into the Arcanum. Rather than disappearing, they first appear to have been sucked into the rune which then disintegrates. Unless she was transported to another dimension or temporality, Jayce and Viktor included in the trip.

Ekko, the unexpected hero we were all waiting for

What is Mel's power in season 2 of Arcane?

Mel Medarda is a Noxian who was sent into exile in Piltover by her own mother, who could not stand her sensitivity and the judgment she placed on her. But Ambessa's reasons are more ambiguous than that, as we gradually discovered in season 2. In reality, Mel is a magethat is to say a person capable of naturally using the Arcane (in other words magic) without having to go through Hextech. More precisely, she is an Empath capable of influencing the magic of others and sensing their deeper nature (which has made her an outstanding diplomat and advisor).

Perhaps the ruthless warlord actually wanted to remove the child who was weakening her, while allowing him to find a place on the Council of Piltover to offer him a major strategic advantage (Noxus being an expansionist and conquering nation) .

She also makes magic shields and has glowing hair.

It is also likely that she sought to cto buy his daughter from the Black Rosea secret organization of mages led by aristocrats and linked to Noxus, responsible for the death of his son Kino. It seems Ambessa always knew her daughter was a mage, her father being one. But impossible to know the true motivations of the warrior.

Maybe Ambessa did indeed fall in love with a mage and that Mel is simply the product of this relationship. Perhaps also that she had calculated everything and wanted to bring into the world a human weapon entirely at the service of her family. A weapon that she was able to end up loving, as she sincerely loved her son despite what she sacrificed. In any case, it is possible that The Black Rose, which we ultimately saw little of in the season, will return in future works given its importance and the extent of its influence.

A contradictory character, unfathomable until the very end

Who is this mysterious raven at the end of Arcane?

At the end of Arcane, a six-eyed raven appears to search for Hextech remains after Jayce and Viktor disappear. At first glance, this is not a character introduced or mentioned in Arcane. In forums and Twitter discussions, the names of Swain and Raum come up regularly.

A bird of ill omen?

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Raum is a demon who allies himself with General Swain, a champion well known to gamers. League of Legends whose emblem is none other than a raven. Another detail that is not one, Swain is also known to be the leader of Noxus… which will be one of the next regions that Fortiche and Riot Games will visit. When we see that the raven follows the Noxian ships, it's a safe bet that Internet users are right.
