Jean-Baptiste Marteau removed from Télématin for Julien Arnaud? The host returns to his disappointment

In the midst of a storm following accusations of being “tyrannical” with his teams, Thomas Sotto left Telematin in the heart of summer 2024. The former host of BFMTV and M6 has chosen to take up the challenge of succeeding Yves Calvi alongside Amandine Bégot in RTL Matin.

This is not the only departure faced by the 2 morning show. Marie Portolano is also heading towards new projects. The show inherited a new pair at the start of the school year. While the former host of Best pastry chef of M6 was replaced by Flavie Flament, La Deux poached Julien Arnaud from TF1 to compensate for the departure of Thomas Sotto.

Julien Arnaud preferred to Jean-Baptiste Marteau to replace Thomas Sotto in Telematin

A recruitment which did not fail to provoke a reaction. It must be said that Jean-Baptiste Marteau was strongly anticipated to become the new holder of Telematin. Especially since he had succeeded brilliantly in each of his replacements for Thomas Sotto. But the presenter of the Franceinfo morning show was not favored by his management who preferred Gilles Bouleau’s joker to the 8 p.m. show on TF1…

While Jean-Baptiste Marteau had expressed his “very big disappointment” in a message sent to the Franceinfo teams, Delphine Ernotte wanted to justify her choice. “Jean-Baptiste Marteau was a candidate, we studied his candidacy seriously. But we chose the one who seemed best to us for the show”declared the boss of France Télévisions from the set of BuzzTV/Le Figaro.

I didn’t want to stop working on this show at all

From this same plateau, Jean-Baptiste Marteau returned to his non-selection on Monday November 25. “I rarely look in the rearview mirror, otherwise I think that in fact we become bitter. That’s not how I operate. I first look at the challenge that awaits me there, I always host this morning of Franceinfo with great pleasure”he explained. He then did not hide his joy at having been kept in the ranks of Telematin.

In a few weeks, the man who made revelations about the education of his daughter Colette will resume his role as joker in France’s first morning show. He will replace Julien Arnaud during the end-of-year holidays. “You’re going to see me again at Christmas during the holidays. It’s a show that I really like, a team that I really like. I didn’t want to stop working on this show at allhe clarified while ensuring that his disappointment at not having been chosen to succeed Thomas Sotto was now behind him.
