CANAL+: PassPresse disappears on December 31

In its new price sheets, CANAL+ indicated that the PassPresse would be included until December 31, 2024. If the encrypted channel often makes such announcements, this remains surprising since the pass is provided by the same group.

CANAL+ has updated its offers, if there is no big change, we must expect the discontinuation of an option which was until now included for all new subscribers.

A change because of the split?

Indeed, in the new price sheets which are valid until January 13, 2025, CANAL+ indicates that PassPress is included until December 31, 2024 in the new offers.

This is not the first time that the encrypted channel has made such an announcement. If this sometimes happens for channels which are currently being negotiated, this is not indicated in black and white in the price sheet but rather in the subscriber area. This therefore looks more like the withdrawal of Disney+ than the threat hovering over the Eurosport channels.

The end of PassPresse will also be on the same date for park subscribers. Indeed, as we have seen, it is indicated that this is included in the offer until December 31, 2024.

The PassPresse in the CANAL+ options

However, if the end of contracts and a non-renewal of rights with third parties can make it clear that a channel or a platform could disappear, the situation raises more questions for us here.

Indeed, PassPress is published by the company Prisma Media, a subsidiary of the Vivendi group, in the same way as CANAL+. We therefore have difficulty imagining that there is dissension within the same group at this level.

To see if this is not due to the split of the group and the separation of Prisma Media and CANAL+ into two separate companies.
