Ben, the dog so beloved by the sports community, joined the Angels after battling cancer

Last November 5, Kirk Herbstreit informed his community that his Golden Retriever beloved named Ben was undergoing chemotherapy after developing leukemia. His fight was detailed in a previous article. Sadly, 2 days after the publication shared on Xthe master of the quadruped announced the loss of his friend. The latter were concerned when they noted that Ben no longer appeared on the screen as before. Indeed, his owner used to take him to his workplace and the furball did not go unnoticed. She composed a fusion duet with her master and made a series of appearances on television.

A devastating cancer

Over the past few months, Kirk had her dog seen by veterinarians after learning he was suffering from leukemia. The animal benefited from chemotherapy which was initially effective, but which was not enough. The health of Ben deteriorated significantly following the last treatment.

However, Kirk still harbored the hope that his best friend could survive. Ben had to undergo extensive examinations to determine whether or not he could be saved. Unfortunately, scans revealed that the cancer had spread throughout his body: โ€œ The cancer had spread to all of Ben's organs and there was nothing we could do. ยป, he wrote on X in a publication relayed by KBTX.

A difficult start

Kirk announced that she had decided to put her dog to sleep, thus putting an end to her suffering. He then wrote how this moment was unbearable to live through as his dog meant so much to him: โ€œ I've had dogs my whole life, but Ben was unique โ€œ, he affirmed.

He received thousands of messages of condolences and support under his post. His colleagues, athletes, their supporters and Internet users will keep fond memories of this special dog.
