“Hippocrates”, season 3 (MyCanal)

Intense, sometimes unbearable return to the medical saga of Thomas Lilti. At the heart of the new episodes, a question: when the hospital system can no longer fulfill its mission, should doctors rebel?

“Mr. Plankton” (Netflix)

Lovers of underwater life, move on. The hero of this improbable romantic comedy, Hae Jo (a nod to Jimi Hendrix?), is a daredevil handyman, who lives without worrying about tomorrow. When he discovers that he suffers from an incurable genetic disease, he sets off in search of his biological father… and forcibly takes his ex on a road trip across Korea. In a funny balance between eccentric comedy, intimate drama – its young prisoner is going through early menopause – and mafia thriller, Mr. Plankton is an oddity whose excesses amuse and annoy in turn. — P.L.

“Bad Sisters”, saison 2 (Apple TV+)

Against a police comedy background, the second season of this series directed by the excellent Sharon Horgan brilliantly combines murder, humor and portraits of women. An irresistible program where you go from laughter to tears in the blink of an eye.

“The Messiah”miniseries (Arte.tv)

The mysterious story of a brother and a sister, haunted by the nightmare of their childhood intoxicated by the sectarian madness of their mother… The Spanish duo Javier Ambrossi-Javier Calvo has created a pop and dreamlike miniseries of extraordinary audacity.

“The Chef”, season 1 (MyCanal)

Filmed at an infernal pace, camera on the shoulder, The Chef follows in the footsteps of The Bear, award-winning model of its kind. Chaos in the kitchen, tensions in the dining room, culinary challenges and financial pressure, the Cocotte-Minute effect is working at full speed in this drama in a permanent crisis situation, lively but a little too busy.

“Cross”, saison 1 (Prime Video)

Alex Cross, psychologist cop in Washington, hero of James Patterson's novels, has already enjoyed the honors of the big screen – he is played by Morgan Freeman in The Collector (1997) et The Spider's Mask (2001). In this serial version, the shady inspector, haunted by the memory of his murdered wife, is played by the very strong Aldis Hodge, a charismatic actor but with a limited acting palette. Provoked by a caricatured serial killer (Ryan Eggold, peroxide hair and demented look), he embarks on a very dark investigation punctuated by cutesy flashbacks. An effective but formatted drama. — P.L.

“Cat’s Eyes”, saison 1 (TF1+)

Good idea to Frenchify the adventures of the three thieving sisters of this cult anime from the 1980s! Tam, Sylia and Alexia are back in a version in the flesh and in Paris. Despite a tempting concept and three energetic actresses, the result lacks flavor.

“Silo”, season 2 (Apple TV+)

Are the inhabitants of the silo, a monumental underground construction of one hundred and forty-four floors, prisoners of a lie? Locked up for several generations because the air outside would be unbreathable, they are beginning to doubt… More rhythmic but still stingy with revelations, the new episodes of this SF thriller behind closed doors, adapted from the novels of Hugh Howey, pass a head by the exterior. Effective.

“Three Pines”, season 1 (MyCanal)

Armand Gamache should have listened to his superior. But the police inspector did not do so and was sent to a distant canton in eastern Quebec to investigate the death of a socialite. Despite an undeniable effort from the point of view of very careful production, this umpteenth adaptation of a series of successful thrillers does not take off.

“Grotesquerie” saison 1 (Disney+)

An alcoholic detective and a journalist nun investigate a series of gruesome murders in the depths of America. Cannibalism, evisceration, decapitation… Ryan Murphy's new series (Monsters, American Horror Story) turns out to be as bloody as it is mystical. Placed under the sign of redemption, this horrific thriller probes the abysses of the human soul, but falls short with its ultra-baroque aesthetic and its outrageous characters. In the background, giant fires decimate the environment like so many firefighting metaphors of the Apocalypse. — E.C.
