Gérald-Brice Viret responds to “Parisien” but does not deny his revelations on the departure of Cyril Hanouna from the Canal+ group. If the general director of the encrypted group in charge of antennas and programs expressed, in a long tweet, published this Sunday, October 20, 2024, his desire to continue working with Cyril Hanouna after the closure of C8, announced for the 28 February 2025, he has contented himself, for the moment, with a declaration of intent.

“Contrary to what is stated in the article in ‘Parisien’ below, we are deploying all our efforts to consider alternatives to preserve the presence of Cyril Hanouna on our broadcasts after 12 years of loyalty and friendship with the group“, wrote Gérald-Brice Viret on the social network X (formerly Twitter). “Our commitment to Cyril Hanouna, one of the most talented and recognized animators in France, is unwavering. It is also about providing our full support to the 400 employees whose jobs are directly threatened by this decision and for whom this situation is particularly worrying.“, he continued.

However, according to “Le Parisien”, the transfer of “Touche pas à mon poste!” on Canal+ was excluded by management. Maxime Saada, chairman and CEO of the Canal+ group, anticipated this question this summer in front of Arcom: “I have made the choice that Canal+ no longer offers programs that can be judged as information or political programs (…) We are very careful to protect Canal+ from these subjects which create constant problems“, he took care to specify in July 2024.
