towards the end of TPMP on from… December?

According to information from Le Parisien this Saturday evening, Cyril Hanouna “is preparing to begin discussions with the managers of Canal +”, who have hosted “Touche pas à mon poste” on their C8 channel for more than a decade.

End of TPMP on from… December?

The TPMP show which will no longer be broadcast on the group’s channel from March 2025 (date on which C8 must stop broadcasting after Arcom’s decision not to renew its frequency, Editor’s note). “The Canal + group will broadcast the daily program until February 28, 2025 but not beyond,” tells Le Parisien a person close to the matter. But the sulphurous show could already stop before the end of year holidays next December. “January and February are the quietest months in terms of advertising revenue, so I do not see the point of starting again at the beginning of January with a net loss,” this source further indicates.

“Divorce is inevitable”

So what about the Cyril Hanouna case and his show, which we could expect to be transferred to Canal + or another channel in the group? “The more time passes, the more it seems clear that they hold him responsible for the closure of C8. It will be very complicated for him to stay,” explains an executive from Vincent Bolloré’s group. If the Council of State validates the closure of the channel, “it’s dead, divorce is inevitable”, indicates another person close to the case to our colleagues.

According to Le Parisien, Cyril Hanouna would have understood this well and would therefore consider a pure and simple departure. He would have approached other channels, but given his track record and the controversies of recent years, this could be complicated to succeed. The host would also work solo on a digital platform project on the Internet which would offer a range of programs, including TPMP.
