The legendary cowboy Lucky Luke will make his return in a live-action series, with Alban Lenoir in the title role. Filming has just been launched in Spain for broadcast in 2025 on Disney+.
Disney+ and France Télévisions are proud to announce their new collaboration for the production of “Lucky Luke”. This live-action fiction series, adapted from the famous comics published by Lucky Comics and Dupuis, in homage to Morris and Goscinny, will see the light of day in 2025 on Disney+, which announced the start of filming this Wednesday.
The 8-episode adventure comedy will subsequently also be broadcast on France TV, the platform announced. It is directed by Benjamin Rocher (“Parallèles”, “Antigang”, “Antigang: the next generation”) and written by Mathieu Leblanc (“Panda”, “Astrid et Raphaëlle”, “Les rivières pourpres”) and Thomas Mansuy (“Panda », “Ten Percent”, “Killer Coaster”).
The costume of the famous cowboy was entrusted to actor Alban Lenoir (“Antigang”, “Antigang: the next generation”, “Ball Perdue”, AKA”). According to the official synopsis, Lucky Luke “will have to help Louise, an 18-year-old girl as prickly as a cactus and more unpredictable than a rabid coyote. Together, they embark on a quest across the Wild West to find Louise’s mother, who has mysteriously disappeared, while foiling a plot that could change the course of American history! A thrilling adventure that explores both the past and the future of the hero who shoots faster than his shadow. Between duels, chases, furious headbutts and unexpected alliances with the Daltons, Billy the Kid or Calamity Jane, our improbable duo will discover that the biggest challenge is not saving America… but rather teaming up! »
A “modern approach”
Billie Blain (“The Animal Kingdom”, “The Holy Family”) will play Louise. Also announced in the casting are Alice Taglioni (“La Doublure”, “Nice Girls”, “Ovnis”) in the role of Charlie, Jérôme Niel (“Vermines”, “Les Tutos”) who will lend his features to Joe Dalton, Victor le Blond (“Antigang: the next generation”, “Moah”, “Les Combattantes”) who will be Billy the Kid and Camille Chamoux, “Le Flambeau”, “Les randonneuses”, “Premières Vacances”) who will play Calamity Jane.

The series is freely inspired by the work created by Morris in 1946, and published for the first time in L’Almanach Spirou.
