spectators shocked by the column of Maïa Mazaurette who compares him to a “perfect sire”

Maïa Mazaurette’s column for the show “Quotidien”, which portrayed Léon Marchand as the model of the “perfect father” because of his swimming body, sparked indignation on the networks.

A moment of embarrassment. Maïa Mazaurette’s column, Monday September 30 on the set of “Quotidien”, made people cringe. While Léon Marchand was the illustrious guest of the day, the show’s sex columnist launched into an analysis of the swimmers’ bodies, all illustrated by a photograph of Léon Marchand, described as a “perfect progenitor”.

“The swimmer’s body is not only sporting performance, it is also something much sexier, reproductive performance,” says Maïa Mazaurette in her column, before adding that “according to research in evolutionary psychology , women would be unconsciously attracted to men capable of passing on good genes to their offspring.

And to continue, with supporting image, that “this perfect sire would be recognizable by a V or T morphology. Wide shoulders and narrow hips. Swimming develops the muscles in the shoulders and upper back. It therefore generates this famous silhouette. Which makes the swimmer’s body not only a sporting ideal, but also an ideal for making love,” she concludes in front of Léon Marchand.

An inappropriate column according to Internet users

A column which did not please certain Internet users, several of them considering that Maïa Mazaurette reduced Léon Marchand to the status of an object. “She takes over his body, sexualizes it, speaks of him as an object in her presence,” we can read on the X network, while others believe that this column was inappropriate and not respectful of the personality of the swimmer, who presents himself as introverted and uncomfortable with the media.

“During the entire interview, Léon Marchand explains to you that he is introverted and that he doesn’t like people looking at him, and there, he has to smile while Maïa Mazaurette explains to you that he’s a good seeder”, “Quotidien is lucky to have Léon Marchand on his set and while he explains that he is introverted and not necessarily comfortable, a forty-year-old arrives to sexualize him, dissect each part of his body and qualify as a perfect sire,” others note, ultimately calling these remarks sexist.
