The novelty

I was waiting for you

I was waiting for you is exactly what we expected from a show in which Véronique Cloutier and Jean-Sébastien Girard revisit the popular Quebec culture of past decades: a pleasant burst of nostalgia. The two hosts use their impressive useless memories to interview personalities around specific themes, such as the bygone era of hostesses, summer TV, groupies, etc. Online since Thursday, the first episode dissects the fashion of the 1980s and 1990s with Marina Orsini (who is no longer with her long-time agent, Ginette Achim), Jean Airoldi (who began her career as a model at Carrefour de l ‘Estrie) and Genevièvre Brouillette (who played in Diva).

The safe bet

Revolution

PHOTO PROVIDED BY TVA

The star edition of Revolutionwhich brings together notable competitors from the first five seasons, keeps its promises. For three weeks now, the enthusiasm with which we applaud the performances has sometimes been disturbing. (We also predict a victory for b-boys Samuel Cyr and Sean.) Our interest should increase tenfold this week with the opening of the face-to-face matches, a round during which – alert for a major twist – the star dancers will face… new recruits who wish to take their place. These candidates were carefully chosen by Lydia Bouchard, Mel Charlot and Jean-Marc Généreux, TVA informs us. Relief: Masters can still use their rescue button. The rest promises to be complicated!

The throw of the dice

The war of the bride and groom

PHOTO PROVIDED BY BELL MEDIA

Because its title, Four Weddingsreminded us of our favorite romantic comedy, Four Weddings and a Funeral (in French, Four weddings and a funeral), we had watched a few episodes of the British original. And against all odds, we didn’t hate it. This is why we plan to give its Quebec adaptation a chance, especially since Canal Vie is running until October 10. The format is simple. This is a wedding preparation competition between four candidates responsible for evaluating each other’s marriage. The one who collects the most points wins a honeymoon. Detail to mention: actress Catherine Trudeau provides narration off-camera.

Canal Vie, from Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Scream

We’re not particularly fans of horror films, but Scream (in French, Chills), it’s different. For some unknown reason, we rush to the cinema every time a new part is released. When the fourth was released in theaters in 2011, we watched it around 3 a.m., at the end of a thematic sleepless night Scream at the Imperial Cinema, surrounded by people wearing Ghostface masks. We will be able to repeat the experience (with a few details) this week since the first four chapters of the indestructible franchise land on Crave. And because Halloween is coming, the platform will offer 31 days of classic horror films in October, including those starring a certain Chucky.
