new uppercut from Cyril Hanouna, s…

September 24th is not a day to remember for Gilles Verdez. In TPMP, the columnist was (once again) literally trashed by his colleagues from C8 because of his political opinions.

On September 24, Gilles Verdez, known for his political affinities with the far left and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, was attacked on the set of TPMP by his colleagues, notably Cyril Hanouna and Géraldine Maillet.

During a debate on post-Olympic bonuses for unions, Gilles Verdez expressed his support for a pay increase, which triggered strong and mocking reactions from the team.

The heated exchanges culminated in personal attacks and mockery, illustrating the political tensions within the show.

Gilles Verdez probably regrets having ever revealed his political affinities in the context of his work. While the 60-year-old journalist assumes his sympathy for the extreme left and more particularly for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, he must regularly endure the wrath of his colleagues. On the set of TPMP, from Géraldine Maillet to Cyril Hanounaeveryone tries to convince him that he is wrong, and does not hesitate to take him to task as soon as social issues are discussed.

On Tuesday, September 24, on C8, Fatou’s husband had to defend himself again against a crowd of delirious commentators. The debate was about the post-Olympic period. Some unions, including that of the SNCF, are demanding a new bonus. A well-justified request in the eyes of Gilles Verdez. “Not only am I in favor of them getting a new bonus, but I’m in favor of doubling their salary!” A desire that the rather (extreme) right-wing team of TPMP was quick to discredit.

Cyril Hanouna on Gilles Verdez: “No, but a disaster, this guy, honestly!”

Cyril Hanouna was the first to attack. “No but Gilles Verdez, he wants guys who are in an irregular situation, guys who have their noses, teeth, ears redone, that’s it, he wants squatters everywhere who come in, quietly! (…) He wants everyone to get a raise, and everyone to have bonuses” the star presenter undertook in order to denounce the alleged laxity of his favourite scapegoat.

A few minutes later, Géraldine Maillet in turn took her colleague from the show to part. “I’m a little disappointed because Gilles didn’t tell me how the bonuses were paid…” The person concerned did not have time to respond, Cyril Hanouna continuing directly, mockingly: “Can you imagine if Gilles Verdez was running ? What a disaster, this guy, seriously!”

“Where do you find it, in your ass?”

For the king of C8, his columnist’s ideas of sharing are simply intolerable. “Where do you find the money, in your ass?” he insisted to the laughter of the audience. Gilles Verdez finally spoke out to try to defend himself against Guillaume Genton who had also attacked him by drawing a strange parallel between the squatters and URSAFF.

No use: the show’s boss quickly took up the talking stick again. “Welcome to the utopian world of Gilles Verdez, the guy!” he amused himself, before declaring, about the one he likes to call a friend: “The France of laxity and mediocrity! Gilles Verdez! Bravo! Nobel Prize for stupidity!”
