The women won!
This weekend, two of the Cadurcian teams entered in the Thénegal Cup were in the running to compete in the finals.
The ladies were called up on Saturday at midday to face the players of Saint-Etienne-de-Tulmont in the second division of the competition. Sophie Heduy, the captain, once again opted for youth by lining up Camélia Lapeyre (13 years old), Candice Louis and Evia Tselikashvili (both 15 years old). On paper, the two teams had exactly the same rankings, which promised a very balanced game. The match started under the best auspices with the quick victory of the youngest of the competitors, very concentrated and diligent. Candice Louis snatched a second point in three sets. Evia took over but was a little tense and let victory escape her, which meant that the outcome of the match would rest on the decisive double. Candice and Evia faced two experienced players but did not tremble when it came time to conclude the match in two well-run sets and therefore put the club's name on the competition list.

The men were invited to arrive on Sunday morning to meet Gourdon in the first division. The captain, Maxence Gauvain, had brought back his team from the semi-final: himself, Mathieu Soulié and Kévin Jacquot. After the singles, the Cahors players were trailing 2/1. Everything therefore rested on the double. Mathieu Soulié and Maxence Gauvain made a good start to the match by making an interesting break but they were facing the determined and inspired Gourdonnais who quickly got back on track before taking control of the first set in the tie-break. Unfortunately for the Cadurcians, the second set also tilted in favor of their opponents. The adventure ends with a little hint of disappointment but the adventure was beautiful nonetheless!
In the coming weeks, it's time for the Maury Mixed Challenge and the youth team meetings, with, to follow, the trio Candice-Evia-Camélia who, we have no doubt, will be keen to give their best on the courts!
