The Copa del Rey match between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo was marked by a big controversy in the first half. A penalty which could have been awarded for a fault by goalkeeper Lunin.
The Madrilenians qualified for the quarter-finals in pain at the Bernabéu this Thursday evening. It was not until the second period of extra time that Real took off on the scoreboard, with three saving goals scored in quick succession by Valverde and Endrick.
But the match could have taken a completely different turn if in the 36th minute of play, the referee had awarded a penalty for a foul by goalkeeper Lunin, who seemed to catch Swedberg's foot and make him fall without having touched the ball.
The referee does not flinch, the action continues and ends in the opponent's cap a few seconds later, with Mbappé opening the score at the end. Incomprehension on the part of Celta, who expected the VAR to intervene to signal Lunin's fault.
The decision of the refereeing body not to award a penalty to Celta is obviously causing a lot of talk in Spain, with opinions divided on the issue. It was then that Lunin's wife published a message on the networks to defend her companion.

“With all the cameras and the slow motion, if you pay attention a little bit, you can see how Andriy touches the ball and also how the ball changes trajectory a little bit. Why? Because he touches it with his fingers. He doesn't There’s no wind at the Bernabéu,” the Ukrainian goalkeeper’s wife said on Instagram.
An analysis contradicted by former referee Iturralde González, who serves as a consultant on Cadena SER: “It is the most difficult action for a referee to evaluate, because we do not know if the attacker is origin of the contact or if the goalkeeper is late. With the left leg, it's the same thing. For me, it's a penalty. that it was the attacker who initiated the contact,” he explained.
