VIDEO – After two years of waiting for his fans, the American streaming platform’s favorite psychopath, played by Penn Badgley, will make his comeback for a very final season.
“Hello, you. Do you remember me? Because I remember you.” In this brand new trailer, posted by Netflix this Thursday, January 16, Joe Goldberg makes his comeback. Played by Penn Badgley, the main character of You which divided fans of the series, will bow out in season 5, scheduled for April 24. Netflix announces the release of this final season via a trailer on all their social networks.
In this video, Joe speaks directly to us, the viewers. A way of proceeding which contrasts with what he did previously, he who usually spoke to the victim he had chosen for the season. “Here we are together again, where it all began”says Joe Goldberg in voice-over while his character on screen pushes the door of his antiquarian book store in New York, a place initially abandoned after season 1. “A lot happened during those years, but it led me to where I needed to be, to the thing that was always there, you.”

After showing images of Joe Goldberg’s past killings, which viewers witnessed, the voiceover calls out to us. “Goodbye, you”says the main character, breaking the fourth wall and looking directly into the lens. For this final season, fans of the psychopath will, in fact, once again witness his crimes.
One last victim
This time, however, Joe Goldberg will benefit from greater resources. As a reminder, at the end of season 4, he marries Kate Lockwood, a rich heiress with a penchant for murder. The latter offers him the means to end his London exile and return to his hometown of New York to recover his son Henry, abandoned in season 3. His wife’s resources, however, will not be enough: Joe has already a new obsession.
As announced Deadline last March, the New York stalker will prey on Bronte, a “enigmatic screenwriter”. She will be played by Madeline Brewer (Orange is the new black , The Handmaid’s Tale ). Always according to Deadlinethe author will push Joe Goldberg to “questioning his entire life, attaching himself to her via their shared interest in books, bringing him back to his past life and who he was.”
