He is one of the fans’ favorite players of Squid Game. Arriving in season 2, Dae-ho, the former Marine who wears number 388 in the game, quickly won over Netflix subscribers… who were perhaps wrong to trust him.
Two weeks after its release, season 2 of Squid Game continues to attract subscribers. These new episodes have even already surpassed season 1 in terms of audiences on Netflix. Some took their time and still haven’t finished the episodes but, for others, it’s time for theories after the ending which caused debate. After their viewing, Internet users shared their best ideas for season 3, which has already been filmed and whose release date has reportedly leaked. Warning, the following contains spoilers! Tele-Leisure has already told you about this theory about player 246, left for dead at the end of season 2, or about what could happen between the game master and Gi-hun. But another character intrigues Internet users. It’s Dae-ho, Gi-hun and Jung-bae’s young ally, who introduces himself as a former member of the Navy. But is it really?
Squid Game : why fans doubt Dae-ho after the last episode of season 2
Fans of Squid Game have reason to doubt about Dae-ho, played by Kang Ha-neul, especially after watching episode 7 of season 2. During the confrontation between Gi-hun’s “team” and the guards, In-ho (the game master’s real name) asks one of his “allies” to go and collect the magazines left in the dormitory. If Hyun-ju nominates himself, Dae-ho ultimately volunteers to go in his place. Except that once he takes refuge with the other players, he seems to have a panic attack. A bit strange for someone who supposedly served in the military, no? Earlier in the episode, as the confrontation begins, Dae-ho also appears to be having trouble controlling his weapon. Hyun-ju, who served in the army, on the contrary, handles her weapon like no other… Is it possible that Dae-ho lied about his military past? If some believe it, others point out that in South Korea, military service is still compulsory, which could explain why he has such poor control of his weapon.
These clues suggest that Dae-ho is a traitor in Squid Game
Regardless, there is reason to doubt Dae-ho, especially since other clues suggest that he could in fact be a traitor. According to a theory which is gaining more and more followers, Dae-ho would actually be a guard who arrived in the game to protect 001aka the game master. From episode 3, a short scene puts us on this track. During the first vote, we can see player 388 coming forward… but he doesn’t look at all like Dae-ho and is rather old (proof in the tweet at the end of the article). The character as we know him makes his first appearance in episode 4, after In-ho introduces himself to Gi-hun and Jung-bae. Another clue that seems to confirm this theory? During the pentathlon, the second event seen at the start of episode 5, we can see an exchange of glances between In-ho and Dae-ho, just after Gi-hun successfully completed the final challenge. A furtive glance, certainly, but which seems to indicate that something is up. So, is he really serving player 001? We will have to wait for season 3 of Squid Game to find out!
