“When a person is kidnapped, every second counts… » This is the motto of the MPU, the police unit responsible for finding missing people in the city of Philadelphia, in the United States. Created by producer John Eisendrath (The Blacklist) and Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx (pour Ray, in 2005), the series Alert is based on two main protagonists, Jason Grant, played by Scott Caanone of the series regulars in Hawaii 5-0, and Captain Nikki Batista, played by Dania Ramirezseen particularly in The Sopranos or Heroes. The first, a former mercenary with connections to the CIA after a stay in Afghanistan, is the ex-husband of the second, and they work together to solve kidnapping cases… not without bickering!
What about a season 2?
Broadcast on the Fox channel since January 2023, without making any sparks (audiences increased from 4 to 1 million followers on average), the series was nevertheless renewed for a third season.
Jamie Foxx’s misadventure at the origin of the series
The actor had the idea for the series after a personal mishap. Indeed, it was following the disappearance of his own child – for a few hours – that Jamie Foxx launched himself… A big scare, which fascinated the actor, who began to carry out research on these people, who find missing people… On the other hand, the disappearances in the series are not directly inspired by real events, but address recent social themes, such as the scourge of fentanyl, a drug responsible for thousands of deaths in the United States.
