The show, which stopped in 2018, is back on the channel with personalities who will fight against hunger and thirst for ten days but also travel.
Launched by Mike Horn in 2015 then stopped in 2018, the survival show “The Island” is reborn from its ashes with a new adventurer, the Frenchman Loury Lag. “My job is to take on sporting challenges in the most remote parts of the world. Passing after Mike Horn is not easy but it is an honor. “The Island” is a purist format which I really liked and made me want to discover the profession of presenter”he specifies.
At the head of the Icarus Project program intended to climb the highest peaks in the world, the latter gave his advice for surviving in a hostile environment to the ten personalities participating in this new season. In the second part of the evening, he presents “The secrets of the island”, a program with never-before-seen images of the adventure in which he gives his tips for confronting hostile nature.

An eclectic cast
On the casting side, the production chose an eclectic cast mixing stars from various backgrounds. We thus find the Miss France Delphine Wespiser (2012) and Nathalie Marquay (1987), the flea market expert Julien Cohen, seen in “Affaire concluded” on France 2, the actor Patrick Puydebat (The Mysteries of Love), athletes Lucie Bertaud, boxer and MMA champion, Sidney Govou, former player of the French team and Pierre-Ambroise Bosse, 800m world champion in 2017, but also the influencer Daniela Capone, the model Terence Tell, seen in “Dancing with the Stars” on TF1 and sports journalist Carine Galli.
By embarking on this adventure, everyone has only one objective: to survive ten days in Ko Tarutao, Thailand, with the obligation to connect several places. A novelty bringing additional difficulties. The place, which looks like paradise, bears the nickname “Île du Bagne” and the apprentice adventurers quickly discover why.
Memorable arguments
In addition to hunger and thirst, they face heat, torrential rain, injuries (Patrick Puydebat is bitten by a stingray…), but also memorable arguments. “My biggest fear was the group, how to live with others, how to adapt”confides Sydney Govou, specifying that it was “worse than in a football team” car “the common objective is not the same”.
“We tell ourselves that collective intelligence will lead us to make good choices and that is not at all what is happening! »laughs Pierre-Ambroise Bosse. Nathalie Marquay feared the lack of food. “Before I sleep, I have to eat 500 grams of chocolate…”she specifies.

Faced with the need to build shelter or find food and water, some leaders emerge quickly but annoy others just as quickly. “It’s not easy to be in constant danger. One wrong step and you step on a scorpion, you never sleep so it’s hell. If there is no guideline, it becomes carnage”analyzes second-hand dealer Julien Cohen, who is one of the leaders of the group. Power grabs which, with fatigue and lack of food, take on enormous proportions and give rise to numerous conflicts.
In this adventure, the personalities have nothing in particular to gain except the fact of having taken up the challenge and having pushed themselves to the limit. An enjoyable show to watch from the comfort of your sofa.
