This new headline game, hosted by Jean-Pierre Foucault, Hélène Mannarino and Denis Brogniart, never met its audience during the first two weeks of broadcast.
Two weeks and then gone. TF1 announces the deprogramming of its new game “Gladiators», after only two issues broadcast, starting next Friday. Presented by Jean-Pierre Foucault, Hélène Mannarino and Denis Brogniart, this show was launched on Friday December 20, 2024. But the audiences were never there.
The first issue only attracted 1.9 million curious people and 11.2% of the public. A disappointing score for a launch. Last night, “Gladiators” plummeted with only 950,000 viewers, or 5.9% of the public. La Une was only fourth in the Médiametrie audience rankings, behind France 2, France 3 and M6. Unsurprisingly, the management of La Une decided to limit the damage by canceling the show.

Thus, Friday January 10 in prime time, TF1 viewers will find the show “Jeff Panacloc Adventure 2024”. The following week, on January 17, Arthur will take over with “Les Touristes: flight attendants and stewards mission”. The last episodes of “Gladiators” will be scheduled next Friday, in the second part of the evening, from 10:45 p.m.
Adapted from an American format from the 1990s, “Gladiators” reinvented the games of ancient Rome. Sixteen gladiators with disarming charisma and formidable physical abilities competed in the events, including a world taekwondo champion, a French boxing champion and even a French crossfit champion. ““Gladiators” is “Intervilles” without the cows”Jean-Pierre Foucault told us behind the scenes of the filming we attended. Between 1989 and 1996, « American Gladiators » was a television phenomenon in the United States and the success of the British format on BBC One in England last January (with more than 8.4 million viewers at launch) encouraged TF1 to get started. In vain unfortunately.
