Outlander : Jamie and William are going “still meet on the battlefield”

Tele-Leisure asked actor Charles Vandervaart, who plays William in the series, to find out what would happen between the two characters. “They will meet again on the battlefields, replied Charles Vandervaart. There is a lot of tension between them. I hope they’re able to reconcile one day and develop a beautiful relationship, a father/son bond, maybe in season 8, but we’ll see.” The actor spoke about what this revelation changed for his character and for his relationship with John. “For William, Lord John is his real father, he raised him, he loves him. This will cause turmoil in their relationship, but he has unconditional love for him.”

Outlander: “This will create a chasm between them”, believes Sam Heughan

For his part, Sam Heughan also reacted to this revelation, in an interview with the English site Radio Times and what that meant for the rest of the series. “Jamie always loved William from afar and always wanted to leave his life, which he managed to do in a way, or when he was younger, but he was never able to reveal the truth because it would be dangerous for William, explained the actor. This is not at all the way he would have wanted it to happen but, lo and behold, the truth came out. This will serve as a catalyst for William, who will unleash his fury, in a way. This is going to take time and a lot of work. This will clearly create a chasm between them to overcome.” For his part, Jamie must also overcome the fact that Claire married John, believing him to be dead, and that his wife and her friend consummated the marriage.
