We weren’t sure that a season 2 was essential for Squid Gameespecially since it was not planned at the start. The unexpected and colossal success of this South Korean series around the world made its creator Hwang Dong-hyeok want to continue to hijack children’s games for murderous purposes. The second season will be available on Netflix on December 26, a date which allows it to participate in the 2025 edition of the Golden Globes for which applications close at the end of the month.
We understand that the platform is pulling out all the stops to promote this sequel to its most popular series to date with 330 million users and 2.8 billion hours of viewing. We know that it will include (it’s official) a third and final season broadcast in 2025 while David Fincher is preparing an English-language spin-off. Lead actor Lee Jung-jae received an Emmy for his performance, which you will have time to catch up with if you feel like it. Because it is really preferable to have seen the first season – or to review it – to follow the second.
Where were we?
We remember it. The “Squid Game” is a deadly game in which competitors in desperate financial straits are forced to participate in creative and sadistic trials that evoke classic playground fun (“1,2,3 sun” “hide and seek”) »…) except that we die at the end. The last person alive gets 4.6 billion won; basically, 34 million euros. It is not surprising to find the winner of the first season among the heroes of this sequel. The little haunting and anxiety-provoking music is also back. What happiness!
The rest, quickly!
It is a shame that the trailer, which we strongly advise against viewing, already reveals a lot of information about what is going to happen. This spoils a little the suspense of the first episode, the adventures of which still whet the appetite, which, after all, is the desired goal.
