The first trailer for season 3 of the HBO series “The White Lotus” was revealed this Monday. A whole new cast is settling down this time in a luxurious Thai seaside resort… Where everything will not be all pleasure.
Critically acclaimed, the HBO series “The White Lotus” – which takes a sharp look at wealthy people with questionable morals to say the least – will soon be back with a third season.
After an (eventful) stay in Sicily the previous season, the series this time sets down its suitcases in the magnificent landscapes of Thailand.
While the first focused on money and the second on sex, creator Mike White intends this time to take “a satirical and funny look at death, religion and oriental spirituality” by following, as tradition now a new group of luxury hotel guests. On the program: massages, meditation… But also betrayal and murder? The trailer makes it clear that crimes will be committed: someone can be seen committing a robbery while another scene shows a body on a stretcher.
“The search for peace can be a journey,” HBO announces to introduce the new season, while the voice-over of the trailer reminds us that: “Everyone runs away from pain towards pleasure. But they only get there to find more pain.”
The spa boss returns
After Jennifer Coolidge (rewarded with two Emmy Awards for her performance) who was the main vacationer of the first two seasons, it is the character of Belinda Lindsey (Natasha Rothwell), the owner of the spa in Hawaii in season 1, who will this time the link with the old episodes.
The trailer unveiled this Monday shows part of the rest of the enormous cast who took part in season 3. Walton Goggins (“Fallout”) will notably form an improbable couple with Aimee Lou Wood (young actress discovered in the series “Sex Education”).
Also participating in the new episodes: Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola and Lisa (members of Blackpink credits as Lalisa Manobal).
“The White Lotus” won no less than 15 Emmy Awards in its first two seasons. According to Casey Bloys, boss of HBO, a fourth season is already being considered, in any case would be welcome. “While we were in Thailand, Mike White presented us with his concept for the fourth season,” he said in November, according to comments reported by The Hollywood Reporter, before adding: “If he wants to go from forward, we will of course do the fourth season.”
Meanwhile the third season of “The White Lotus” will be available from Monday February 17 in streaming on Max.
