Thibault on his victory in “Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe”: “Charlotte had a heroic act”
“I didn’t want Ilyesse to win”: Charlotte explains why she chose Thibault to join her in the final of “Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe”

What allowed you to hold on to the posts?

I knew that for static events, I had a little less potential. For the posts, it was concentration that took precedence. And, between Ilyesse and me, I knew that this was what could make the difference. When it fell, I gritted my teeth but finding myself on a 10 by 10 centimeter square with my big feet was not possible! (laughs) When I fell, it was a disappointment.

How do you view your journey in Koh Lanta ?

I’m proud. Before leaving, my family asked me to do a Koh Lanta specific to the level of values. In Corsica, the island where I come from, it is very frowned upon to betray. So I didn’t want to be part of low-level strategies. I am proud to have managed to stay my course and to have gone far with the Yellows. I was attacked on social media about my choice against Ugo. I explained in a publication what had pushed me to do it, namely to support the Yellows until the end. And I think my choice was better understood.”

Are you ever surprised by the criticism you receive on social media?

Yes, even if I had been warned. In 98% of cases, I have positive messages. And then, there are criticisms which can sometimes hurt. Some of my classmates have received horrible messages. I also suffered anti-Corsican insults, for example. But, I manage to gain height.”

How did the return to reality go?

“It was very complicated. When I came back from Koh LantaI had only lost 2 kilos. I was quite surprised. I had bouts of bulimia. I started eating a lot of sugary foods. Over the summer, I gained 10 kilos! Fortunately, afterwards I took up rugby…”

Here is the name of the winner of “Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe”

Has your experience in rugby helped you in Koh Lanta ?

“Yes because the values of rugby are in harmony with those of Koh Lanta. It teaches you to be fair, tolerant and not to give up.”

Is it that Koh Lanta changed you?

“Before I was quite sanguine and impulsive. But all that lessened with Koh Lanta. I am now more calm and serene. I showed in the adventure, that if we are kind, we can live better in community. On a sentimental level, it changed me too. I moved up a stage thanks to Koh Lanta. I am moving forward more peacefully with my life as a couple even though it ended recently. But I know that better days will come.”

What are you going to do with the winnings?

“I am keeping my activity as a farmer but I am going to move more towards agrotourism. I love the welcome, talking about the region and its values. To get started, I was waiting to see if I got the winnings promised to the winner. They will be a good contribution to my project.”
