Very popular with French and British viewers, Murders in Paradise will soon return to France 2 for a special Christmas episode. But in the meantime, know that the series already has two spin-offs! And one of them welcomes one of the former inspectors from the parent series!
Like every year since 2021, Murders in Paradise (Death in Paradise in VO) offers its fans a special Christmas episode. That of 2024 will indeed be broadcast on France 2. While waiting to discover it, buoyed by its success, the Franco-British detective series already has two spin-offs on its clock. Since 2023, the BBC has launched Beyond Paradisea spin-off series centered on Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), former investigator of Murders in Paradise between seasons 3 and 6. Humphrey Goodman returned to investigate in Great Britain, in a small town in Devon.
Murders in Paradise : The series is entitled to a second spin-off
Broadcast in September 2024 in Australia, the second series derived from Murders in Paradise began on November 22 in Great Britain. This spin-off is called Return to Paradise (Return to paradise) and tells the story of investigator Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson), an Australian who comes to live in London. She returns to her hometown, Dolphin Cove, to help her mother repair her house and can’t resist lending a hand to the local police in solving a murder case. But as she prepares to leave for London, she has to postpone this return because she is accused of having falsified evidence in a British investigation.
Murders in Paradise : A former inspector makes an appearance in the new spin-off
In the first episode of this new spin-off of Murders in Paradisefans were delighted to see a former investigator from the parent series appear. Indeed, Jack Mooney (O’Hanlon Area) pops a head in the new series where he is presented as a sort of mentor to Mackenzie Clarke. The latter does not have in her entourage “not many people who really matter to him, nor many friends. Jack is one of them and you can tell just by watching the few scenes they exchange on the phone“, explained Anna Samson to Digital Spy.
