Was the episode broadcast this Monday, July 1st really filmed at the Opéra Garnier?

Monday July 1st, France 2 rebroadcasts an episode of The Art of Crime who leads the endearing duo behind the scenes at the Paris Opera. But did the filming really take place in this legendary location?

Fans of French fiction, you’ve been dreading it, it’s coming slowly but surely: the rerun period, synonymous with end-of-year celebrations or summer vacations. Among them, some are more welcome than others. This is particularly the case for The Art of Crime, of which France 2 offers the episode entitled A ghost at the Opera (our opinion) Monday July 1st. A plot dedicated to Edgar Degas, an artist particularly famous for his paintings representing dancers at the Opera, which brings together a plethora of well-known faces: Bruno Debrandt, Agustín Galiana and Dounia Coesens.

The art of crime: was this episode really filmed at the Paris Opera?

Beyond the well-crafted plots and the perfect acting, one of the strong points of The Art of Crime resides in the emblematic locations of the capital where the series, also acclaimed abroad, is filmed. The Louvre, the Quai d’Orsay, the Moulin Rouge, the Palace of Versailles… This plot entitled A Phantom at the Opera is no exception to the rule. The teams took over the Palais Garnier for several days and professional dancers slipped among the extras. In addition to the large central staircase, actors and technicians were able to access the dance hall, generally closed to the public. But if this episode was indeed filmed in the famous building inaugurated on January 5, 1875, it was not entirely filmed there. The backstage of the Opera is actually that of the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin.

The Art of Crime: Uarrival frowned upon by Florence

This first episode of the third season also marks the arrival of Juliette Mariton (Dounia Coesens), who replaces Florence at the last minute. A character who was not supposed to stay but who will grow in stature over the episodes to the point of becoming a pebble, or even a rock, in the shoe of our expert, who is increasingly in love with Captain Verlay. Having come to lend a hand during an investigation, Juliette will also fall in love with Antoine but will leave him just before arriving at the altar, three episodes later, to finally leave the police and retrain in sophrology in the intrigue that takes place at the Palace of Versailles.
