This Thursday, November 7 Thomas Iles received Grégoire Bonnet et Michèle Laroque in the show Media Culture on Europe 1on the occasion of their play “The Next Door”. The host took the opportunity to question the actor Household sceneon a controversy concerning his character.
For 10 years Grégoire Bonnet has played the character of Philippe, a colorful pharmacist… but which was not to the taste of certain members of the profession. In 2017, the Order of Pharmacists even sent a letter to M6 to complain about this character, who according to them, tarnished the image of the profession.
Grégoire Bonnet: “It was completely absurd”
“When I arrived on M6, I was offered this role of pharmacist (…) we started to build this character, and I said that I wanted to have all the faults… who loves money, big cars, who is a bit ‘nouveau riche’… I wasn’t giving an image of pharmacists… whom I really like… there are some in the provinces who are suffering a lot” he admits.
Following the complaint from the Order of Pharmacists, Grégoire affirms that production was reframed “ I understand that M6 asked production to calm things down with the authors. And then I asked the authors again, saying ‘has it been a long time since we’ve seen a good asshole?’ » he admits hilariously. And to conclude “ no but it’s just called humorr ».
M6’s response to the Order of Pharmacists
In 2017, M6 wanted to respond to the letter from the Order of Pharmacists “ The characters of Camille and Philippe are exaggerated in order to achieve their comic function. It is in this context that certain sketches of the character Philippe approach his profession as a pharmacist with humor or in a caricatured manner. », had justified the channel management, adding doubt, that these skits “ may have had the effect of altering the public’s perception of the profession of pharmacist, and even less of the competence of its members ».
