The partnership between Canal+ and Disney+ is coming to an end, marking a notable separation in the French audiovisual landscape. As of January 1, 2025, Canal+ subscribers will no longer be able to access Disney+ content, nor the American group's television channels, via their subscription. In a press release sent to AFP, Disney specified that its productions – films, series and documentaries – will remain available exclusively on its own streaming platform.

This break also puts an end to the priority broadcasting of Disney films on Canal+. Until now, subscribers could watch new Disney films six months after their theatrical release. From now on, due to the media timeline, this period will be extended to 17 months for those who do not subscribe to Disney+. To continue to benefit from quick access to films, a direct subscription to Disney+ will be required.

Users will still be able to choose between three subscription plans: an offer with advertising at €5.99 per month, an offer without advertising at €9.99, or the premium package at €13.99, offering 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos. There obviously remains the option of Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases.

Canal+ has not yet commented on this decision, leaving questions surrounding the continuation of its strategy.
