Do you feel that you are in the sights of other adventurers?
“For a lot of episodes, I feel like I’m the person to take down. From the moment we targeted a captain, I told myself that my turn could come at any time. The fact that I’ve already won immunity puts me at the top of the list of people to target. To move forward, we must push aside the strongest. Having already done Koh-Lanta is both an advantage and a disadvantage. It’s an advantage because we are recognized and appreciated for our career. But, it is a disadvantage because you can be perceived as strong.“
Frédéric regrets not having been able to make an alliance with you. Do you feel the same?
“Yes, clearly. I would have liked to maintain this alliance with Fred. I did it on impulse because with Fred, we were in a bit of the same situation, we were enemy brothers on this edition. I was the one who broke that wedding ring first. My obsession during this edition was for the Reds to advance. But, I regret having voted against him.“
Have you started this Koh Lanta in the same state of mind as the previous ones?
“I play to win. At the beginning, I had this idea of letting the horses go a little. I’m not known for strategy. But, I said to myself: “Come on, go for it!” This is one of the areas of Koh-Lanta that I had not yet explored. I take pleasure in playing all the cards to the fullest. But, I think about it a lot. It bothers me.“

Are you still mad at Gustin for betraying the Reds?
” I didn’t understand at the time because I had the impression of building this Red team and doing everything to keep it as balanced as possible. And he gave it all a big kick. He destroyed our entire team to save himself as long as he could. I found this gesture very individual. But hey, it’s still a game. I don’t blame him anymore. Everyone has their own adventure.“
It feels like you’re the quiet force of this season. Are you like that in everyday life too?
“I internalize a lot. I see it in the way I talk to Gustin during the council. Deep down, I’m boiling and I want to say words that you don’t necessarily say on TV. (laughs) But, when you live in society, you have to use common sense. I put things into perspective a lot. But, I am falsely calm. I control the beast that wants to come out! (laughs)“
Today, you are a nature guide. Do you have the impression that a lot of people sign up for your sea trips to see the Koh-Lanta Phoenix?
(laughs)” There is! But when I organize trips to the sea to watch dolphins, people have stars in their eyes. I’m no match for a dolphin. I always have a lot of fun interacting with people after this experience. I never thought I would be considered an emblematic Koh-Lanta adventurer. This image doesn’t displease me, obviously.“
When you were a falconer, you worked in several wildlife parks. Even in Belgium?
“No, unfortunately. I had birds that came from Pairi Daiza, a very well-known Belgian wildlife park which also works for the conservation of species, but I did not work directly in Belgium.“
