BFMTV, which was bought by Rodolphe Saadé, is suffering hard times. After losing its director Marc-Olivier Fogiel, TNT channel 15 faced an unprecedented wave of departures. One of its new senior leaders has just reacted to it.

In addition to losing its leadership of news channels to CNews, BFMTV was faced with an internal crisis. Following its takeover by Rodolphe Saadé – boss of the shipowner CMA-CGM -, TNT channel 15 lost several of its emblematic faces.

An unprecedented wave of departures at BFMTV

After the departures of Marc-Olivier Fogiel and Hervé Béroud – replaced by Fabien Namias and Jean-Philippe Baille as general director of BFMTV and deputy general director for information of RMC and BFM -, members of management, but also from the editorial team have decided to leave the channel. They activated the clause opened by its acquisition by another group to devote themselves to new projects.

From the Inter morning studio on Thursday October 24, 2024, Nicolas de Tavernost reacted to the unprecedented wave of departures which is shaking BFMTV. The new CEO of RMC and BFM wanted to “very precise” on this point. “There is a clause in France and, moreover, I believe that we are the only country in this case. When we change shareholders, the journalists – and there are more than 800 at BFM – have the right to leave with compensation, without giving a reason”explained the man who left the management of M6 in April after 37 years of good and loyal service.

“It’s the law, we respect it!”

“A tax-free allowance of one month per year of presence. So it’s a provision that may interest some… A certain number of high-level BFM employees took it. We found ourselves faced with this situation. We knew this clause, but we did not know in advance those who wanted to take it… It is their most absolute right. It is the law, we respect it!”added Nicolas de Tavernost.

This week, a journalist from the political service said goodbye to BFMTV after signing a final duplex from the National Assembly for BFM Story. Like Thomas Soulié, deputy head of the political service, Christophe Person, presenter and head of the weather service, or even Céline Pitelet, presenter of Week-end directPerrine Vasque decided to leave the channel after its acquisition by Rodolphe Saadé.
