The fifteenth edition of Book on the Quays will welcome more than 150 Swiss and international writers from August 30 to September 1 in Morges (VD). Several big names in French-speaking literature such as David Foenkinos and Véronique Olmi are expected. Switzerland and Zoé editions will be in the spotlight.

The organizers lifted the veil on Friday on part of the “copious program” of the Book on the Quays (LSQ), which is now chaired by Alix Billen, succeeding Fanny Meyer, now delegate for Book Policy for the city of Lausanne. The 2024 edition celebrates Switzerland and the richness of its literature, they announced.

They invite the public to discover the works of the four Swiss linguistic regions like Pascale Kramer, Dominique Bourg, Marc Agron, Peter Stamm, Ariane Koch, Olimpia De Girolamo, Pedro Lenz, Fanny Desarzens, and many others, write -they in a press release. Maylis de Kerangal and Joseph Incardona will chair this fifteenth edition.

Literary return to display

For three days, the festival will welcome a plethora of big names from the French-speaking literary scene for more than a hundred meetings and signings: Véronique Olmi, David Foenkinos, Grégoire Delacourt, Yann Queffélec and Anne Nivat are already among the 150 guests alongside local feathers, which are mostly represented.

This edition will also feature a French-speaking publishing house. Zoé Editions, created in 1975, today have a catalog of more than 900 titles from Switzerland, Africa and elsewhere. Among them, Catherine Safonoff, Nicolas Bouvier, Robert Walser, Agota Kristof.

The Geneva house, under the direction of Caroline Coutau, will come to the docks with around fifteen local and international stars, including Colombe Boncenne, Blaise Hofmann, Gabriella Zalapì, Michel Layaz, Lukas Bärfuss, Bruno Pellegrino, Catherine Lovey, Romesh Gunesekera or Katja Schönherr.

Young audience at the party

More original formats such as “speed booking” or the Literary Waltz will be continued alongside signings under the big tent, meetings on current themes such as ecology, discussions on the body, well-being and health , but also musical and literary performances, without forgetting the traditional cruises.

Many workshops and meetings will be aimed at young audiences and families. Among the thirty children’s authors will be Christine Pompéï, Amélie Antoine, Pierre Alexis, Reto Crameri and even the illustrator Fanny Dreyer, winner of the 2024 Swiss Children’s Book Prize, indicate the organizers.

The 2023 edition of the LSQ in September 2023 attracted some 40,000 people to Morges, a crowd of the best years.
