Variety reveals that the story will follow the documentary team that captured the lives of employees at the Scranton branch of Dunder Muffin as they take on a new subject: a Midwest newspaper nearing closure that the publisher is trying to save with the help from volunteer journalists.
This new The Office (whose name should also obviously change) will therefore attack the information and media sector. A golden subject as the years have focused on digital technology and the weight of social networks in the field. The financial situation of the newspaper, the state of journalism in general and the voluntary status of the employees offer a rather substantial creative Source which will fit well into the universe of The Office.
Two renowned actors to play this new The Office
This The Office should see the light of day on the Peacock channel and we already have a small idea of the first names involved in the project. If their characters are not yet known, we know that Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) and Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars VII) will be the two main actors in the show.
Another reason to have confidence in the project, the presence of Greg Daniels in development, the same one who allowed the US version of The Office to see the light of day. He works alongside Michael Koman, author at Saturday Night Live. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the original creators of The Office British, will be part of the group of executive producers.
