It’s official, the new France 2 UHD channel will broadcast the legendary Roland-Garros clay court tennis tournament in native 4K resolution. If Orange subscribers will benefit, Free, SFR and Bouygues Telecom should also not miss the boat.

Broadcast for several years in 4k on its France TV Sport 4K UHD channel, the famous Roland-Garros tennis tournament will this year be broadcast in ultra high definition on the new France 2 UHD channel, currently only available on TNT for more 30 million French people.

As for national operators, only Orange has so far announced an official agreement and the distribution of its new channel on Liveboxes during the month of May, just in time for the Parisian grand slam tournament which will be held on the 20th. May to June 9. After two false starts (without a green light), SFR should also launch France UHD on its boxes and allow its subscribers to be amazed during this major sporting event. It is a safe bet that Bouygues Telecom and Free will also broadcast the channel by the start of the competition. For its part, the local operator OrneTHD has already announced availability of the channel from May 15 for its subscribers.

In addition to native UHD, France Télévisions also announced that its new channel will integrate immersive 3D sound for Roland-Garros with Dolby Atmos support. This state-of-the-art device will concern matches played during the day on the Philippe Chatrier, Suzanne Lenglen, Simonne Mathieu courts and court 14.

The France 2 UHD channel has been available 24 hours a day on TNT channel 52 in France and 22 overseas since Tuesday January 23, while that of France 3 arrives on July 10, only for the Olympics .
