A fun book to help children discover Orléans, its heritage and its history

When an author and an illustrator from Orléans meet, a book is born. This is both informative and amusing, and showcases Orléans heritage. It’s called “Archi and Jeanne’s Sheep”.

This is the story of Archi, a dog from Orléans. Nice one, that one. Adorable, even. It is he who, by giving a hand to the children, will guide them in the Johannine city and teach them many things. This walk is, in fact, justified by a mission and not the least important: to help Joan of Arc find her blanket… Yes, you can be a warrior and have a tender heart!

The story ofArchi and Jeanne’s sheep is narrated by Audrey Van den Berg and the illustrations are by Ceeloo. This book for 5-10 year olds, published in October 2023 by French Flowers, was born from a chance meeting between the two women: “We were in an artists’ exhibition, we met and we wanted to do something thing together.”

Culture is also open to those under 3 years old: our ideas for activities for toddlers in the metropolis of Orléans

As both like to highlight local history and heritage, they quickly agreed on this project. Ceeloo has been drawing for years, with her recognizable line, the emblematic monuments of the city, in the form of posters, postcards, magnets… She knows them by heart!

The child discovers the history and monuments of his city.

Other projects in the drawers

Audrey, for her part, published her first children’s book in 2018 (The little girl with the butterflies), then self-published another on Olivet, in conjunction with the illustrator Anaïs Groisy (Souribus). Coming from digital marketing and passionate about books, she decided to take the plunge and create, in 2022, her publishing house, French Flowers.

“Since January, I have had two partners with the aim of developing the house with texts other than my own. We have already released a collective work with nineteen other authors, plus me. It’s called Ageless tales.” With Ceeloo, as with others, Audrey is full of editorial projects.

Pacifiers, work to touch and stickers: at the heart of a visit dedicated to babies at the Frac d’Orléans

While waiting for them to mature, follow Archi the little dog with the family. The book is available in all bookstores in the area, at the tourist office, at the Museum of Fine Arts shop, in the Ceeloo shop (Hisent Haut, rue des Carmes) and online (notably on the French Flowers website), at the price of 20 euros (46 pages).

A pink flamingo, in a nod to the Floral Park, is hidden on each page…
