the essential
The author Joe Garrix, originally from Bagnères de Bigorre, unveils his fifth novel, Astor, a high school student withdrawn into himself, who thanks to a fabulous meeting with a book seller will develop extrasensory abilities and thus learn to know himself.

In a world conducive to supernatural elements, immerse yourself in Astor’s daily life. This high school student, living at night, excluded by his classmates, has difficulty finding his place. Despite everything, the solitary student devotes himself to reading from time to time, moreover certain evenings, Astor passes in front of this same bookstore without ever setting foot there, yet one day, his body mechanically crosses the door, and inside is a bookstore the likes of which he has never seen before.

The man is called Nathanaël, feeling something in common with Astor, the bookseller will take him under his wing, developing the young boy’s extrasensory abilities. However, many trials await the high school student, his relationship with his father, his confrontation with his classmates. Without a shadow of a doubt, Astor’s adventure makes us think about our decisions, the relationship with our loved ones, at any time and at any age, and also this need to know who we are. The story keeps us in suspense, illustrating a life path that is sometimes complex but which in the end allows us to touch another reality.

It is quite simply a life story that the author wants to convey, she, who is intimately linked to nightlife, wants to share her feelings about her vision of the world, about this initiatory adventure which makes us grow. Joe Garrix writes for her and for each of us through his pen which subtly mixes with his inspirations such as Harry Potter and his quest, for him too, to discover who he is. As she says “magic is not far away, it all depends only on Astor’s will”.

Immerse yourself in a 110-page quest for this first self-published volume published on February 29, 2024, where Joe Garrix pays particular attention to making this story accessible for all ages.

This novel is available at the Plumes & Bulles bookstore, at 14 rue Victor Hugo in Bagnères-de-Bigorre but you can also find it on Amazon.
