Childhood is a timeless marker that never evaporates. An indelible mark that marks lives and resurfaces in every corner of memories. Élodie Hernandez knows this only too well. This 38-year-old Manosquine cannot erase her youth from her memory. “A little special”, as she writes in the first chapter of her book. An 85-page work in the form of catharsis to free oneself from this painful period.

Élodie was born into an abusive family. Which led to his placement by social services… at the age of one. Stays at the DDASS (the Departmental Directorate of Health and Social Affairs in charge of the protection, placement and monitoring of children) and in host families (three in total) will follow until the age of 20.

“When we write, we are still in pain”

Today married and mother of two little boys (six years and 15 months), the one who is an employee for the Mr. Bricolage brand tells us The roller coaster of my childhoodthe title of his book. “There are two reasons why I wanted to write this book, explains the author. The first reason is to be able to prove that it is not because we are the child of violent and alcoholic parents that we automatically are or will be. It’s a big label that I want to break. And the second point is to show precisely that we, children of the DDASS, are in fact getting there. It’s not because we had an atypical career path that we end up a gangster.”
