Daily life Novye Izvestia do not hesitate to title: “How censorship was officially resurrected”. “A special body has just been created which, as in Soviet times, will assess the compatibility of literature books with Russian laws,” reports the site. What is it about ? A council of experts organized within the Russian Book Union which will be responsible for “validate the compatibility of books proposed for publication with Russian laws” (with the exception of school books, normative and official texts).

It is composed, among others, of representatives of the Federal Agency for Communications Supervision (Roskomnadzor), the Russian Society of Military History, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia, the Russian Federation of Jewish communities, the Association of Lawyers of Russia and the Russian Academy of Education.
