All programs of the Franco-German public channel will be available on the streaming platform of the first French channel.

TF1’s free streaming platform is expanding its offering. All programs from the Franco-German public channel Arte will be available from October on TF1+, which is thus stepping up its policy of distributing external content, the private channel announced on Tuesday, September 17. “This new partnership will allow TF1+ to enrich its catalogue with the aggregation of attractive third-party content (…) and Arte to benefit from TF1+’s powerful audiences and its massive distribution in homes”TF1 said in a press release.

On September 4, during the Télévisions back-to-school conference, the head of the public group, Delphine Ernotte Cunci, had nevertheless assured that its france.tv platform would distribute “the best of the offer” Arte in the fall. This announcement was tempered the next day by Arte president Bruno Patino: he declared that the agreement had not yet been signed and that his channel was discussing with several players at once, with the aim of ensuring the widest possible distribution of its content.

Another deal for 700 hours of documentaries

In addition to the agreement with Arte, TF1 announced another similar one with A&E Television Network (AETN), “American television group leading the way in the documentary field”. “With this agreement, the platform will have more than 700 hours of documentary programs in various genres”including for example emissions The extreme convoy And Ghosts Hunterscontinued TF1. “We are particularly proud of these partnerships which strengthen our aggregation strategy” and testify “of our strong ambition for our platform”commented the CEO of the TF1 group, Rodolphe Belmer, quoted in the press release.

In the same vein of distributing external content, TF1+ announced in July agreements with the channels L’Équipe and Le Figaro TV, offshoots of the eponymous dailies, as well as with the music streaming platform Deezer. Launched in January as a free alternative to paid streaming platforms such as Netflix, TF1+ claims 4 million daily users and 33 million monthly users.
