Chic, it’s back! Here we go again for a new season ofBeautiful escapes with a first unprecedented stopover in Tuscany, broadcast very soon on France 5: Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 9:05 p.m.! An unmissable event for those who want to extend the summer and counter the back-to-school blues. For the occasion, Tele-Leisure was able to speak with Ismaël Khelifa (for whom “Travel is a great remedy against withdrawal”), one of the show’s three permanent adventurers, who arrived in 2019.
Ismaël Khelifa tells us about this particularly striking travel memory
In 2019, Raphaël de Casabianca leaves Beautiful escapes for the presentation of Rendezvous in unknown land. It is Ismaël Khelifa, then travel columnist in The Daily, on France 5, which replaced him. His first destination? Mauritania. The journalist and writer from Annecy (Haute-Savoie) has a particularly strong memory of it, as he tells us: “I arrive in Mauritania, which was my first destination in Échappées belles. We are in the middle of the Sahara desert, it is almost 52 degrees and I have been spinning for 3 minutes. I have just said hello to the person who welcomes me and then, suddenly, I see a kind of big cloud of sand, a kind of sandstorm rising. Torrential rains are falling on the place where we are. And then I understand that the rain has not fallen in such proportions since the mid-80s… And it is 2018! So I am facing people who are discovering the rain, some are afraid, there is panic and excitement at the same time.“

Adventurer for Beautiful escapesit’s a job! With his experience in traveling in the past, Ismaël Khelifa was able to acclimatize quite easily in the France 5 show: “I learned the trade by working with other animators and also by being a tourist guide because it helps a lot in the connection with the public.“, he explains to us. A knowledge of the exercise which does not prevent him from “look at what other comrades are doing“. “I don’t miss many Échappées belles because I find that we learn a lot from others and it’s always interesting to see how they do it. And even if Jérôme and Sophie and I don’t see each other much because we have busy schedules, there is a certain camaraderie between us and we all have our own uniqueness.“. This singularity and authenticity is also the great strength of a program that has been taking us on a journey without leaving our sofas for 19 years now!
