the Séminaire de Sherbrooke in shock

“It is with regret and sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Charles Goode, English teacher and rugby coach at the Séminaire who had 20 years of presence, dedication and commitment to the Séminaire. He was also an active member of the board of directors of the Fondation du Séminaire. The latter succumbed to a heart attack during his vacation in Nova Scotia,” indicated Rector and Director General Jacques Gravel, in an email addressed to the parents of students attending the Séminaire.

“He was a passionate educator and trainer who will have marked hundreds of young people, veterans and members of the large Séminaire de Sherbrooke family over the years. (…) The management of the Séminaire de Sherbrooke offers its most sincere condolences to Mr. Goode’s spouse and family members as well as to the entire community of the Séminaire. »

A notebook will be available to parents and students, at the entrance to the Seminar, from Wednesday, where they can write down thoughts, memories or expressions of affection.

Before his career as a rugby coach, Charles Goode distinguished himself on the field by being named to the RSEQ all-star team in 2000 and 2003.

Mr Goode also coached the Bishop’s University Gaiters men’s rugby team from 2013 to 2019.

He was involved in rugby as a player or coach, from 1996 to 2019 at Bishop’s.

He also led the Quebec U18 teams in 2012 and 2013. He was also named coach par excellence within the RSEQ in 2014.

He is widely recognized as one of the leaders in the development of school rugby within French-speaking institutions in the region.

He was a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
