For 17 years, she volunteered her time as an advocate in the department. She did not count her hours to find solutions to the problems encountered by individuals, confronted with the administrative burden of various public bodies. She carried out these functions until December 2022. Her voluntary investment was recognized by the rank of Knight of the Order of Merit, awarded in November 2017.

It was in Germany, when she was a civilian staff in the Ministry of the Armed Forces, that she met her husband, Daniel. The couple had a son, Maël, born in 1974. Nicole and Daniel were united in 1978. In 1980, they settled in Valdoie. Three years later, they left for Nigeria, for professional reasons, before returning to Valdoie in 1988. In 1990, they settled in Châtenois-les-Forges.

They were the proud grandparents of two boys, Kenan, 13, and Ayden, 10.

After Defense, Nicole Chabanne had asked to be transferred to the Ministry of the Interior, entering the prefecture of in 1974. She worked in several departments (permits, gray cards, state personnel budget) until her retired in 2007. Knowing well the workings of the administration, she then decided to use her experience as a defender of rights. A mission that was particularly close to his heart.
