Children found in Colombia: the operation will not stop until Wilson, the dog soldier, is recovered

“Never give up on a partner”. Two days after the rescue of the four children lost in the Colombian jungle, the army decided to continue its search operations in order to find Wilson, the commando dog – a 6-year-old Belgian shepherd – mobilized on the spot.

In the first days of the operation “Hope”, he had found the wreckage of the plane carrying the children, their mother and a native chief. A little later, he had led the rescuers to the pacifier of the youngest of the missing children.

“All united to retrieve our canine commando Wilson from the jungle. The operation isn’t over until you find him!”the Colombian Military Forces tweeted on Sunday. “A fallen comrade is never left on the battlefield. Operation Esperanza is moving forward in the search for our dog Wilson, who, while tracking the children, got away from the troops and got lost,” had assured the day before the Colombian army quoting its chief of staff, General Bonilla.

Meanwhile, the Colombian military posted a short clip of the search on TikTok where the dog is seen advancing through the jungle while the children – aged between one and 13 – were still missing. The animal had been called into the jungle because of its training in detecting people and substances.
