Elye Wahi heads to Eintracht Frankfurt

Ultimately, Elye Wahi’s transplant in did not take place.

While he was convinced “ for bringing in the man who will very soon be one of the best strikers in Europe », Pablo Longoria finally threw in the towel. While for several days, rumors have been announcing the former and Lensois across the Rhine, these are on the way to becoming certainties.

The positions of OM and Eintracht Frankfurt have therefore become closer. The player will travel to Hesse this Friday to undergo a medical examination. To then engage with the Bundesliga club.

Arriving from last summer, after signing a contract until 2029, Elye Wahi struggled to find a place in the Olympian eleven. His three goals and his assist did not allow him to retain his starting place. For several matches, Roberto De Zerbi preferred Neal Maupay up front.

The operation will allow OM to recover a check for 26 million euros. To which will be added a bonus and a percentage on resale. In Frankfurt, Elye Wahi should take over from Omar Marmousch, the Egyptian striker who has just joined Manchester City.

The example Kolo Muani

The future ex-Olympian hopes that the air of Germany will suit him better than that of Marseille. His reference is Randal Kolo Muani, whose performance at Eintracht allowed him to be noticed by Didier Deschamps and PSG.

On the Marseille side, the club will work to make the arrival of its replacement a reality. Because with this departure, Roberto De Zerbi only has two leading attackers at his disposal, Neal Maupay and Robinio Vaz. Because the other Marseille center forward, Faris Moumbagna, has still not left the infirmary and should not be able to play again before the end of the season.

Several names are circulating about the potential successor to Elye Wahi. Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia have until February 2 to find it.

This same deadline also concerns potential departures. In the last days of the winter transfer window, OM could indeed part ways with Lilian Brassier. The former Brestois, in the same situation as Elye Wahi, has not managed to make the grade since his arrival at the Commanderie. A Serie A club, after one from the Bundesliga, came to inquire in recent days.

There also remains the Chancel Mbemba case. The Congolese is no longer in the professional group and OM would like to find a way out for him. But so far, no leads have materialized.
