Morbihan placed on rain and flood alert this Friday evening

Watch out for Éowyn! (who is not a character in Lord of the Rings) This winter storm is indeed sweeping across Great Britain and threatening the tip of . The Morbihan department will therefore enter rain-flood vigilance from 6 p.m. this Friday, according to the latest Météo- bulletin.

“The first rains reached Brittany at the end of the night, but the episode has not yet really started, particularly in Morbihan,” noted Météo-France.

Other departments could follow

“Storm Éowyn is currently circulating over Ireland,” forecasters point out. “Over Brittany, it brings lasting and temporarily sustained rain, in particular (Friday) evening”, when the disturbance will reactivate. Météo-France is thus forecasting a “usual rainy episode for the season, but requiring particular vigilance, due to saturated soils”.

Cumulative precipitation amounts between 20 and 40 mm are expected during this rainy episode. “The heaviest rain should stop around midnight,” Météo-France said.

Orange vigilance could be extended to other departments, in particular to those already placed on yellow “rain-flood” vigilance, warned the meteorological institute.
