It’s a shock. Two young hunters, aged 20 and 21, were found dead Wednesday in a hunting shelter located in the regional natural park of the Cotentin and Bessin marshes, in Saint-Fromond (Manche). They may have been intoxicated with carbon monoxide emanating from a motor pump used inside, according to information from the Channel press.
The emergency services intervened when relatives were concerned not to hear their news. The two victims “were discovered inanimate but the care was in vain,” said the public prosecutor of Coutances, Gauthier Poupeau, said Ouest-France.
A gendarmerie investigation has been opened, while an examination of the bodies must take place. This should confirm or information to carbon monoxide poisoning.
-“A priori, there was water in the Gabion. They made use of a thermal motorbike. You know, this kind of motorcycle remains outside. We simply put a pipe in the gabion to pump the water if there are any. But was the pipe too short? I know that the water level has been fairly high in recent times. Did they put the motorbike inside? Asked Gérard Bamas, president of the Federation of Channel Hunters, with the Channel press.
Each year in France, around 3,000 people are accidentally poisoned with carbon monoxide and a hundred people die, says Public Health France, on a dedicated page of its website. Invisible, odorless and non -irritating, carbon monoxide is undetectable. It can emanate from boilers, water heaters and chimneys, especially if these installations are poorly maintained or even fuel devices.
