UAE Team Emirates XRG focuses on youth

The UAE Team Emirates XRG revealed, on Thursday January 23, the seven riders who will take part in the opening weekend of the European road cycling season in Spain, including Jan Christen and António Morgado. The Emirati team will rely on youth, with no less than three members of the « Gen Z » in its workforce for the Grand Prix Castellón (January 25) and the Classic of the Valencian Community (January 26).

Road cycling returns to Europe this weekend! With the Grand Prix Castellón Saturday and Classic of the Valencian Community the next day, the competition returns to the Old Continent, more precisely to Spain. On this occasion, the team UAE Team Emirates revealed, this Thursday, its composition for the two events. The best team of the 2024 season has chosen to focus on youth to launch its season, with several cards. Among the revelations last year, Jan Christen (20 years old) will be one to watch closely, just like his friend António Morgado, of the same age. The two men could cause havoc on the hilly courses on the weekend’s program.

At 24, Filippo Baroncini seems like an veteran. The former U23 world champion, who won his first professional success in 2024, intends to continue his momentum in 2025. Alongside them, the three men will find three riders from the « Gen Z »the development team d’UAE Team Emirates. The Spanish Marcos Freire (18 years old), Italian Enea Sambinello (18 years old) and Slovak Matthias Schwarzbacher will be there in Spain. The group is completed by another Transalpine, Alessandro Covithe oldest rider on the team at just 26 years old.
