Ukraine: under pressure from Trump, will Putin accept an agreement?

On Facebook, political scientist Abbas Galliamov points out that Putin can invoke Trump’s shift on societal issues to end the war in Ukraine:

“Putin cannot afford to go home without a victory. Therefore, Trump’s decision to no longer officially recognize two sexes – man or woman – as well as the other measures he wants to take to combat ‘inclusivity and diversity’, could have a positive effect. It is well known that Western ‘tolerance’ is one of the causes of the war put forward by Russia. … On this ground, the conflict is therefore resolved. The West has ‘recognized its mistakes’, it is ‘back on the right path’ and ‘Russia has proven itself right’. Arguments that local propaganda can invoke to justify de-escalation.”
