New Jersey Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom had to leave his team’s game against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night after being violently hit by an opponent.
The incident happened early in the second period. Rushing towards the net during an offensive charge, Bruins forward Justin Brazeau lost his balance while going at full speed, colliding with Markstrom feet first.
A sequence which, moreover, is reminiscent of the infamous contact between New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider and Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price during the 2014 playoffs.
-Markstrom immediately appeared in pain and left the match in difficulty, giving way to his assistant, Jake Allen.
Watch the sequence in the main video.
