The Victoriaville firefighters were alerted around 5:35 p.m. The call, reporting smoke and flames, firefighters from station 33 (Princeville) of the Érable Regional Fire Safety Service (SSIRÉ), were immediately requested for mutual assistance with a tanker truck.

When the first firefighters arrived, the garage of approximately 800 square feet (40 by 20) was in widespread flames.

The director of the Victoriaville Fire Safety Service (SSI), Patrick Davidson, requested the use of a mechanical shovel to facilitate the work of fire fighters.
