“A major injustice”, the president of the FFR attacks the government over the Sports budget

This Wednesday, the president of the French Rugby Federation, Florian Grill, sent an open letter on his Facebook account. A letter intended for the government of François Bayrou, following the announcement of the reduction in budget allocated to the Ministry of Sports.

A considerable loss, which does not help French rugby, which has been in financial difficulties for several months now. In his letter, Florian Grill is blunt and denounces “a major injustice”. “Cutting 40% of the budget means sacrificing our clubs, our associations and access to sport for all. This ignores the role of sport in the fight against inequalities and public health challenges. It is contempt for the millions of volunteers, educators and athletes who, every day, work for a better future.he later asserts.

“Sport in France is much more than simple physical activities, it is an irreplaceable social bond (…) a pillar of public health (…) a driving force for youth, (… ) national and international influence: thanks to sport, France has shone”he details in several points.
