A spectacular cloud of smoke was observed this Tuesday in the 15th arrondissement, due to the rupture of a pipe in the district heating network.
No casualties have been reported. While images showing a thick cloud of smoke emerging from a building in Paris, in the 15th arrondissement, flooded into social networks yesterday afternoon, firefighters and police confirmed this Wednesday that it was not a ‘a fire.
Indeed, according to the police, the release followed a rupture in a pipe in the urban heating network, ripped open during work, at rue de la Croix Nivert.
Quickly intervened on site around 3:15 p.m. this Tuesday, the staff of the Paris Fire Brigade confirmed to CNEWS that no casualties had been noted among the residents, and that it was “fumes from ‘non-harmful water’.
-However, the latter had been confined for a good part of the afternoon, as a precaution, during the intervention.
Several technicians are still working in the area this Wednesday, to repair the damaged pipe, police added to CNEWS this Wednesday.
