Officially, Samsung is scheduled to unveil its new Galaxy S25 series smartphones on January 22 at an Unpacked event in San Jose. There will be the Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra but not (yet) the Galaxy S25 Slim.
This should be the subject of a full-fledged announcement in the coming months. However, unlike the three models presented shortly, the Galaxy S25 Slim will only be available in certain markets.
The list of affected countries mainly includes markets in Europe, Asia and Africa. Selected territories include France, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Brazil and several countries in the Middle East. This decision is reminiscent of the strategy adopted for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which was exclusively marketed in South Korea and China.
The marketing and pricing positioning of the S25 Slim should be between the S25 Plus and the S25 Ultra. This segmentation strategy allows Samsung to test the reception of an ultra-thin smartphone in specific markets before considering a wider deployment.
What technical characteristics and design for the Galaxy S25 Slim?
According to the most serious information, the Galaxy S25 Slim stands out for its thinness with a thickness of 6.4 mm, reaching 8.3 mm at the level of the photo module. Despite these reduced dimensions, the device would retain high-end characteristics with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and more particularly the 7-core version recently unveiled by Qualcomm.
-The screen would display a diagonal of 6.6 inches with Full HD+ definition and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The photo system will integrate a main sensor of 200 megapixels, accompanied by an ultra wide-angle of 50 megapixels and a telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom.
As mentioned above, Samsung will most likely not officially present the S25 Slim during the Unpacked event on January 22, 2025, where the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be unveiled. Marketing is scheduled for May 2025, allowing the company to refine its distribution strategy.
This agenda could also be linked to competition from Apple, which is preparing its iPhone 17 Air with an announced thickness of 5.5 mm. Samsung thus seems to want to offer an alternative in the ultrathin smartphone segment, while maintaining a balance between finesse and autonomy.
